Venice for the noob is an island where cars can not run. In Venice we move on foot or by boat at last(public and private). The only link with the rest of the world is a bridge called the Bridge of Freedom along approximately 7 km.
The last place where you can park your car or stop public buses is Piazzale Roma, a square in the extreme north-west of the island.
Venice is not very difficult to reach, is served by a good system of public and private transportation (taxi).
If you come by:
Plane – Marco Polo Airport, you can easly reach the historical center of Venice taking:
– Public bus that will take you to Piazzale Roma and from there see car.
– Taxi, which will take you to Piazzale Roma and from there see car.
– Water taxi that will take you directly to your destination in the center.
Car – as written above the last place to leave it is Piazzale Roma, in this square you can find a lot of parkings. From there you can take the vaporetto (waterbus) or water taxi to the various destinations of the city center.
Train – arriving by train will arrive at the station of Saint Lucia, from here you can take the vaporetto (waterbus) or water taxi to the various destinations of the city center.
Ship – arriving by cruise ship in San Basilio, Venice Passenger Terminal, you can reach the historic center of Venice in these ways:
– Taxi, which will take you to Piazzale Roma and from there see car.
– Water taxi that will take you directly to your destination in the center.
– Vaporetto for various destinations in the city center.
